Vitamin C Serums and who makes the best

Spend 15 seconds Googling vitamin c serums and you'll see pretty quick how many different vitamin c serums there are. Spend another 10 minutes and you'll also see how incredibly beneficial they can be on our skin when used properly and with the right routine.

I remember about 2 years ago a co-worker girlfriend of mine asked me if I could make a vitamin c serum. That the first time I recall ever hearing the term vitamin c serum. I was intrigued.

Vitamin C serum?

So like for your skin?

Serum eh?

Is it an oil base or water base? Why would anyone put vitamin c on their face?

Like with anything you're not familiar with, it seemed so odd to me.

Oh, but I learned really quickly and my eyes were opened.

Vitamin C is an insanely powerful antioxidant. I mean check these out.

  • reduces wrinkles
  • protects collagen and increases production
  • aids wound healing
  • helps protect against sun damage
  • reduces hyperpigmentation
  • evens skin tone
  • brightens complexion
  • acts like armor against pollution and other free radicals

That's just vitamin c alone. Now add some ferulic acid.

Ferulic acid is thought to help stabilize vitamin C while also increasing its photoprotection. Photoprotection refers to something's ability to minimize sun damage. A 2005 study suggests that ferulic acid has the potential to offer twice the amount of photoprotection when combined with vitamins C and E.

Vitamin C is an intense antioxidant and it has some serious potency when it comes to brightening skin.

Now add kojic acid and you have an even more potent skin lightener to help fade dark spots and discoloration. Add some resveratrol, which is one of the most sought after antioxidants and skin brighteners, and you have perhaps the most powerful antioxidant, skin lightening vitamin c serums on the market.

And it's made my kühn.

In addition to vitamin c, ferulic acid, and kojic acid, we add some extra moisturizers in the form of active ingredients like hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed proteins of wheat and pea.

Something to be aware of, because vitamin c is acidic, it can cause irritation and redness. Just like with any new skin care regimen, you need to be very careful when using vitamin c serum for the first time. We also use really high quality ingredients that aren't watered down and keep their potency. Our vitamin c serum also contains 20% l-ascorbic acid like the other premium brands. The chances are very low that any negative effect will occur, but the chance is there. When using lady kühn's vitamin c serum for the first time, follow these steps to minimize any adverse reaction. Again, I encourage these precautions for everyone but particularly for those who've never used any sort of vitamin c serum before.

1. Use a very small amount. Apply a pea sized amount to your hands and then rub onto your face avoiding the eyes.

2. After a minute or two you might notice a slight tingling sensation, that's normal. If however that tingling does not go away after 5 minutes or that tingling because a slight burning sensation, rinse and wash your face immediately and discontinue use.

3. If you see no adverse effects after the first application, wait 2 days before applying again. After 2-3 applications, if nothing adverse, continue to use and work your way up to once or even twice per day.

What we're doing is easing your skin into it. Keep in mind, up until this point everything you've used has had a neutral ph or slightly basic. Vitamin c serums typically have a ph in the 3 or 4 range, well more acidic than anything you've used before.

Ask anyone whose used vitamin c serums before and you'll see, everyone swears by them. They really do work miracles. I use lady kühn vitamin c serum as an aftershave and moisturizer in the morning and in the evening before bed followed by lady kühn's vitamin serum and overnight anti-aging serum.

I found a good article related to what I wrote about. How your skin can react to acids like vitamin c serums and how to tell if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
