Love these products. I have not had one complaint about any of the scents or quality that I have experienced. The beard cream in the hickory scent is my favorite. Great moisturizer and leave in condition for hair of all types. It’s unscented but there is a slight scent but it’s not off putting in any way. There does appear to be these tiny hard crystals through out the product but they seem to dissolve as you work the product around. I will be purchasing this again in the future.
I ordered the Unscented hair, skin and beard moisturizer. It works great not only on my beard, but also on my face. One thing you will get from Kuhn that you won't get from the big companies is personal service. I wasn't sure if I wanted the unscented or a scented moisturizer, so I emailed the owner and asked if he could include a small sample of the Utah scented version along with my Unscented order. A few days later I did receive a sample of the scented moisturizer with my order. Great Job!
This is the first thing that goes on my face and beard after showering. It keeps my beard soft and manageable all day, even when I use balm with clay. I let it absorb while getting dressed, then add oil to my skin underneath my beard. I follow that up with some spray for heat protection and straighten my beard. The last thing is balm or butter, depending on the day. I'm left with a soft, styled, and incredibly smelling beard for the rest of the day.
I have been using this moisturizer for several months now and it has been excellent not only as a beard and face moisturizer, but it works great for those days that I only want to use one product.
I use it daily. A little goes a long way. Any extra I love using it on face and hair. It's not greasy and the smell is not strong at all. It's more noticeable when I apply it after a hot shower, my beard and face thanks me in the morning.
This stuff pairs great with the co-wash. Slap some in right after a was or first thing in the morning. Absorbs great, doesn't leave an oily feeling, and really minimizes the beardruff.
I like Kühn beard oils, the carrier blend results in a slightly cloudy oil that seems to work well with my sensitive skin. I like the oils so much that I thought I would try the beard moisturizer as well. I like to be generous with this creme, I use a good dollop on my beard and then spend a minute or two spreading it all over my beard trying to achieve a good coverage over the hair. My beard seems to sop up the moisturizer quite well. However, perhaps because I have a grizzled, grey beard, I can't see how the product is much better than a good beard butter.
Apparently, I am allergic to one or some of the ingredients, not really sure , but after applying it just causes my skin to turn red and blotchy . It’s not the first time it’s happened to me with moisturizing products, one day I’ll find something that works and doesn’t irritate my skin .
This is such a good product. I’ve been looking for a good moisturizer for my face for a while and this one is exceptional. I apply to my whole face and beard after every shower. Smells great too. Will definitely be purchasing more.
This moisturizer is amazing. I’ve tried so many products and with my sensitive skin is hard to find something that actually works. I have problems with a reaction to hyaluronic acid, so Chris made me one and left it out. What a great product. I prefer a natural look with my beard and I don’t like to use too many things in it so some co-wash in the shower and this afterwards and my beard is soft and manageable all day long. Switching from just beard oil to the beard moisturizer and beard balm almost immediately made my beard feel softer and more manageable. Will definitely buy more once I run out.
This stuff is so versatile! Aside from its obvious use as a skin moisturizer - which, my wife 'appropriated' my first jar after she tried it - I use this the most at night. I moisturize my face, then it goes into my beard and leaves it feeling super soft by morning. Also goes without saying, Chris's scents are fantastic - can't go wrong with either Utah Summer or Hickory.
Get this and the cowash. I've never been one to use a face moisturizer daily but once I started growing out my beard, my skin was getting really dry. This is amazing. I've tried other moisturizers before here and there but my skin always breaks out or looks real oily. Not this stuff. My skin is looking super healthy, it's moisturized, and the itching is 100% gone. I highly recommend the Utah Summer, smells great!
Moisturizer really helps keep the beard/face during that dry/itchy phase. Now that it’s grown out, I use it 2-3 times per week. All the scents I have purchased are great.
First off: The products live up to the hype.
Been using this twice daily for a couple weeks. On the face morning and night, and on my beard at night. Never used a facial moisturizer before, so I don't have anything to compare it to (hence only 4 stars, not 5), but I do like it. Beard is noticeably still very soft come morning when I apply oil and whatnot.
I have sensitive skin on my face that is easily clogged or irritated. I was hesitant to try this product due to my previous experience with some other moisturizers. I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I have been using this daily for a little over a week now with excellent results. I have absolutely no irritation or redness and my skin is well moisturized. I've now used a few of the Kuhn products with great success! Highly recommended!
I've tried so many things to keep my beard soft but I didn't want to have a fussy routine. At this point? Co-Wash for showers (usually without soaping up before hand) and the this stuff goes on at least once a day. Sometimes a little, sometimes more, but the result is always the same: My beard is super soft and smells great.
Bonus points? My girlfriend loves the smell.

I like that I’m using less chemicals when compared to other moisturizers. The unscented version is truly unscented. I was concerned at first when the moisturizer went on my skin very white and got caught in facial hair, like a sunscreen lotion does. But it did soak into my skin very quickly and the white look went away and left behind a non-greasy, invisible moisture. I do have to be careful and not get it in my mustache or eyebrows, or they turn white and that takes a while to go away.
Amazing product! After struggling with a dry beard in mornings, I use this at night and have a soft, moisturized beard in the morning. This also works great at moisturizing my face. Seriously, use this at night.
Fantastic smell. Great general moisturizer for any hair (beard or head) and can almost double as a very light pomade. Keeps the frizz down without being excessively sticky or greasy.

I use this for my face, and it is awesome! It has this freshness to it. My face feels great after using it. You can really feel the care put into the products from this brand. I will be buying from them, from now on. You guys are killing it, never change.
Warm a small amount between your palms until it melts, then work it through — damp or dry, doesn't matter much. Focus on the flyaways, balm works better for that.
Can I use shampoo or hair conditioner on my beard?
Yes, you can — though it's better to use our co-wash. It's sulfate-free and keeps your hair and beard feeling moisturized instead of dried out, which is what regular shampoo sulfates will do to it.
Are beard oils safe?
Yes — ours is non-comedogenic, five real cold-pressed oils, no phthalates or filler. If you've got a known nut or seed oil allergy, check the ingredients first like you would with anything else you put on your skin.
What beard products do I actually need?
Co-wash in the shower, then oil, butter, or balm after you towel off. That combo alone will make your beard really soft — add balm on top of the oil or butter if you also want hold.
Does beard balm/butter/oil help my beard grow?
No — nothing you put on your face makes hair grow faster, that's genetics. What balm does is stop breakage and calm the itch that makes guys pick and over-trim, so you keep more of what you're already growing.
How much beard balm should I use?
Usually more than you think — I see a lot of guys use too little. Just keep applying until it feels like enough for the length of your beard. Longer beard, more balm. Thicker beard, more balm.
What is beard balm used for?
Balm's heavier and thicker than oil or butter, so it holds. That's what keeps your flyaways down and helps your beard keep its shape through the day, on top of conditioning it.
Is beard balm the same as beard butter?
Nope. My balm's about 30% beeswax, my butter's only around 5% — so butter still has a touch of hold, just way less than balm. Both condition your beard, balm just adds a lot more hold on top of that.
Should I use beard butter at night?
Sure. Good option if you want deep conditioning working overnight without any hold or shine the next morning.
How often should I use beard butter/balm/oil?`
Daily. Damp beard, right after your shower.
Do you use beard butter or oil first?
You can use both, if you want — I'd do oil first, it's easier to apply butter on top after. But you don't have to use both. Either one alone works fine, oil for a normal day, butter if your beard's especially dry.
Can I use beard oil, balm, and butter together?
Yes, and a lot of guys do. Oil or butter for daily conditioning, balm on top if you want hold. Just don't use oil and butter in the same routine — pick one based on how dry your beard's running that day.
I use beard oil/balm/butter but my beard is still really dry and unruly, why?
A well moisturized beard starts in the shower and what you wash it with. If you wash your beard with shampoo or regular bar soap, your beard is being stripped and will be very dry. You need to use a conditioner or co-wash.
I'm new to beard products, what's the difference between oil/balm/butter?
They are all designed to moisturize your skin and beard, they just do it in a slightly different manner. Keep it simple. Short beards, beard oil. A bit longer, beard butter. Longer and/or thicker unruly beards, beard balm. Start with an oil and butter if you're new, then go from there.
What's the shelf life of oil/balm/butter?
12 months if stored in a cool, dry place.
How much do I use of oil/balm/butter?
Depends on the length of your beard, but most don't use enough. You need enough to cover all of the hair follicles. It's difficult to apply too much, and very easy to use too little.
How long does the scent last?
You should expect 6-8 hour from our scents.
Will it stain my clothes?
No, it shouldn't. Most beard products leave a greasy film on the outside of your beard which can rub off onto your clothes. Our products are designed to absorb fully so there shouldn't be any transfer onto your shirt or other clothing.
What if I order a scent I don't like?
TOO BAD! I already got your money. JK. If you order any product from kühn and you're not happy with the scent, we will replace it with the scent of you choice. We'll never make someone keep a scent they won't wear.
