Most beard washes are just re-labeled shampoos that strip your natural oils. Our Co-Wash follows a 90/10 rule: 90% conditioner and 10% gentle cleanser. It adds moisture and anti-static properties, removes dirt, and revives lifeless curls without ever drying out your skin.
Why the Soap?
Our soaps use Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay to pull impurities from deep within the beard and skin. When used alongside the Co-Wash, you get the best of both worlds: a clinical-level clean followed by artisan-level conditioning.

I haven’t had a beard for very long. I tried a few other brands before discovering Kuhn products.My beard feels and looks clean. I won’t try anything else.
Clay bar once a week and Cowash daily. It cleans and moisturizes my beard better than anything I've used without the harsh chemicals. I'll use it on my head now and then and it's incredible.
Incredible products to add to your daily routine! The Co-Wash removes the previous day's product, softens my beard, and gives me a fresh start every morning. No drying or breakage. The scent is more subtle, which is great if you follow up with one of the balms that has a stronger, lasting scent.
Now this is an amazing co-wash!! The scent matches the beard oil, bar soap and butter perfectly. It cleans and softens my beard without compromise. Definitely will keep this in my shower routine!

The co-wash is incredible! I don’t have a huge grizzly Adams kind of beard, short, salt and pepper. This wash cleaned it, softened it snd smelled like a mature man. I will definitely be buying this again!!
Soap is good but not much lather and a little small. The CoWash is good too but not much lather. I am assuming because of the accompanying conditioner.
Great product! Beard feels extremely healthy! might recommend switching bottle designs for the co wash. The plastic top for mine snapped part way after some regular handling.

At first, I was skeptical because this was a bday gift for my man and he is so fussy when it comes to "smells" BUT when he took the initial sniff the man melted immediately, pure liquid joy he was! As always, this beard soap leaves it incredibly soft. I’ve tried every other product, but none can match its softness, let alone the delightful scents. Every time I run out, I compare the other brands, but I always return to this one. The soap and conditioner are worth every penny, and they’re a level above all the other companies. I’ll keep coming back for years to come.
I've used the soaps before, and they're always top tier. The scents from kühn are far and beyond what they claim in the best way; they stick around all day and leave you feeling fresh. The Co-wash is a welcome addition to the lineup for me that definitely softens the bristles in my beard and leaves skin moisturized. A little goes a long way. My beard is full at about 3-4 inch length and I'd say about a nickel sized amount does the trick.
First off: The products live up to the hype.
Co-wash is very nice for the beard. I have unscented for now. Have also used it on my hair once or twice to take out some product between deep clean days.
Soap is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I really like it, don't get me wrong. It's clearing up my face quite nicely. Unfortunately, the first bar didn't last long when I tried to use it as a body bar. Got about a week out of it, but that may be due in part to the scrubber bag I used it in. Second bar I have just been using as a face soap, and it's great.
Leaves my coarse beard feather-soft and tangle-free. What a basement bargain price for 12oz of such a top performer. The scents hold good longevity and smell phenomenal. I’ve tried Cherry Pipe and am currently on Birchwood. Both are outstanding. I recommend going the small combo route and throwing in a couple bars of soap, some oil and some butter. The butter with kaolin clay is life-changing. “Treat your beard to the best, treat your beard to Kuhn.”

This cowash is a great product! I can usually it everyday, knowing it doesn’t strip the natural oils away. It leaves my beard feeling soft and smelling delicious
Warm a small amount between your palms until it melts, then work it through — damp or dry, doesn't matter much. Focus on the flyaways, balm works better for that.
Can I use shampoo or hair conditioner on my beard?
Yes, you can — though it's better to use our co-wash. It's sulfate-free and keeps your hair and beard feeling moisturized instead of dried out, which is what regular shampoo sulfates will do to it.
Are beard oils safe?
Yes — ours is non-comedogenic, five real cold-pressed oils, no phthalates or filler. If you've got a known nut or seed oil allergy, check the ingredients first like you would with anything else you put on your skin.
What beard products do I actually need?
Co-wash in the shower, then oil, butter, or balm after you towel off. That combo alone will make your beard really soft — add balm on top of the oil or butter if you also want hold.
Does beard balm/butter/oil help my beard grow?
No — nothing you put on your face makes hair grow faster, that's genetics. What balm does is stop breakage and calm the itch that makes guys pick and over-trim, so you keep more of what you're already growing.
How much beard balm should I use?
Usually more than you think — I see a lot of guys use too little. Just keep applying until it feels like enough for the length of your beard. Longer beard, more balm. Thicker beard, more balm.
What is beard balm used for?
Balm's heavier and thicker than oil or butter, so it holds. That's what keeps your flyaways down and helps your beard keep its shape through the day, on top of conditioning it.
Is beard balm the same as beard butter?
Nope. My balm's about 30% beeswax, my butter's only around 5% — so butter still has a touch of hold, just way less than balm. Both condition your beard, balm just adds a lot more hold on top of that.
Should I use beard butter at night?
Sure. Good option if you want deep conditioning working overnight without any hold or shine the next morning.
How often should I use beard butter/balm/oil?`
Daily. Damp beard, right after your shower.
Do you use beard butter or oil first?
You can use both, if you want — I'd do oil first, it's easier to apply butter on top after. But you don't have to use both. Either one alone works fine, oil for a normal day, butter if your beard's especially dry.
Can I use beard oil, balm, and butter together?
Yes, and a lot of guys do. Oil or butter for daily conditioning, balm on top if you want hold. Just don't use oil and butter in the same routine — pick one based on how dry your beard's running that day.
I use beard oil/balm/butter but my beard is still really dry and unruly, why?
A well moisturized beard starts in the shower and what you wash it with. If you wash your beard with shampoo or regular bar soap, your beard is being stripped and will be very dry. You need to use a conditioner or co-wash.
I'm new to beard products, what's the difference between oil/balm/butter?
They are all designed to moisturize your skin and beard, they just do it in a slightly different manner. Keep it simple. Short beards, beard oil. A bit longer, beard butter. Longer and/or thicker unruly beards, beard balm. Start with an oil and butter if you're new, then go from there.
What's the shelf life of oil/balm/butter?
12 months if stored in a cool, dry place.
How much do I use of oil/balm/butter?
Depends on the length of your beard, but most don't use enough. You need enough to cover all of the hair follicles. It's difficult to apply too much, and very easy to use too little.
How long does the scent last?
You should expect 6-8 hour from our scents.
Will it stain my clothes?
No, it shouldn't. Most beard products leave a greasy film on the outside of your beard which can rub off onto your clothes. Our products are designed to absorb fully so there shouldn't be any transfer onto your shirt or other clothing.
What if I order a scent I don't like?
TOO BAD! I already got your money. JK. If you order any product from kühn and you're not happy with the scent, we will replace it with the scent of you choice. We'll never make someone keep a scent they won't wear.
